The family will receive friends Friday, Februfrom 1:00 -2:00 p.m. She suffered with a rare neurological condition, MSA C-type (Multiple Systems Atrophy). Her family was a great source of pride to her and she will be missed by all those that knew and loved her. Joyce will be remembered as loving and devoted to her family and loyal to her friends. She loved animals of all kinds especially dogs, and she and her late husband rescued several, giving them a wonderful home. Joyce was an avid reader and loyal fan of UT sports. She had a deep Christian faith, lived by the "Golden Rule" always nurturing and caring for her family and friends, as well as being of service to others. Joyce was a member of Concord United Methodist Church and the Searchers Sunday School Class. She went on medical missionary trips to Mexico, assisting with surgery on children with congenital deformities. She was a Certified Operating Room Nurse and was a member of the Association of Operating Room Nurses. Joyce was a Charter Employee of Parkwest Medical Center and worked there the last 35 years of her employment. She worked as an Operating Room Nurse prior to retiring after 45 years of nursing. Following graduation, she attended UT and in 1963 graduated from East Tennessee Baptist School of Nursing in Knoxville. Joyce grew up in Kingston, TN and was a 1960 graduate of Roane County High School in Kingston. and his wife Heather Richard Allen (Ric) Jenkins and his wife, Dee, granddaughters, Lauren Jenkins Katelyn Jenkins, of Knoxville granddaughter Mallory Jenkins Estes and husband Jake great granddaughter Chloe Elizabeth Jenkins, great-grandsons, Cohen Duane Franks, Colby Estes, Tanner Estes of AL and several close and dear cousins. She is survived by her sons, Robert Eugene (Rob) Jenkins and his wife, Martha of Florida Charles Reed (Chuck) Jenkins, Jr. Joyce was an only child and was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Newton and Irene Feezell Swicegood, and loving and devoted husband of 55 years, Charles "Reed" Jenkins, Sr. She was lovingly called "MIMI" by her granddaughters. Knoxville - Joyce Swicegood Jenkins, age 79, of Knoxville, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2022.
